The place with the cool Opera house, Sydney Australia is one of the most frequented place in the land of Oz for backpackers. The city of Sydney is stunning being located right on the water, and the harbour is beautiful, as well as the beaches. With a currency basically equal to the USD and living cost index pretty close as well, Australia might be thought of as a slightly different carbon copy of the US - economically and culturally.

Oslo, Norway Living Travel Costs

Average meal - $6 for a small meal from 7-11, at least $20-$25 for restaurant food.
Beer - $12 from the bar
Cup of coffee - $2.50
Hostel dorm - $40 a night
Hotel room - $170 a night +
Camping - Can camp nearby for cheap/free.
Transportation - Flat rate for public transport of $4.40 per journey anywhere in the city when bought in advance, $6 when bought from driver.

More Information

Flights - Easy from within Europe, though be wary; Many airlines fly to “Oslo Torp”, conveniently located 70 miles from Oslo city centre.
Nightlife - Party
Safety - Safe
Public Transportation - Lots, though it’s all walkable
